International Women's Day 2023: The LCIA Continues to Lead in Gender Diversity 8 March 2023 Happy International Women’s Day! On this day, the LCIA celebrates and reflects upon our continued commitment to diversity in International Arbitration Since 2015, the total percentage of female arbitrators appointed by the LCIA Court, Parties and Co-Arbitrators has grown from 15.8 % to 32% in 2021. The LCIA Court also maintains a high rate of appointments of female arbitrators, continuing to achieve almost gender parity with 47% of appointments going to women in 2021, compared to 45% in 2020. It is encouraging to see that gender equality figures have been rising across arbitral institutions, with the LCIA continuing to lead in gender diversity, but it is important to recognise that there is still more work to be done. The LCIA therefore takes this opportunity to invite those who have not already done so to sign up to the Pledge. Take the ERA Pledge here: arbitrationpledge.com Gender is only one component of diversity. The LCIA remains committed to enhancing all forms of diversity, and the Pledge aspires to be a first step in the direction of achieving more equal representation of all under-represented groups in our arbitration community.
