Membership Terms and Conditions 1 GENERAL INFORMATION 1.1 The LCIA has a general membership of over 2,200 members (from over 80 countries) organised into Users’ Councils, which have been established to provide and maintain its worldwide services and to meet the developing needs of the business community. 1.2 The membership subscription period is from January to December each year. The subscription for members who join part-way through the year will be calculated on a pro rata basis (quarterly). No refunds or extensions can be offered under any circumstances. 1.3 The LCIA also sponsors the Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG) of over 10,000 members. YIAG membership is free and open to students, practitioners and younger members of the arbitration community. The upper age limit for membership, for which there is no subscription, is 40 years. Your membership will automatically be cancelled thereafter. 1.4 The LCIA's dispute resolution services are available to all contracting parties, without any membership requirements. 2 MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS 2.1 Application for membership of the LCIA Users’ Councils or YIAG shall be made to the membership department of the LCIA and, if applicable, shall be supported (in the case of an individual applicant) by a personal résumé or (in the case of a corporate applicant) by information sufficient to confirm its bona fides. 2.2 The LCIA reserves the right to reject membership applications if deemed that the applicant does not meet the expected requirements. 3 MEMEBERSHIP FEES 3.1 The following payment methods are accepted: 3.1.1 Bank transfer: please refer to the invoice for bank details. Please include the invoice number in the payment reference. All payments must be made ‘Free of charges to the LCIA’. 3.1.2 Credit card: by Visa, Mastercard and Amex (no other cards are accepted). Credit card payments will be charged in the currency of the subscription and your credit card company may charge any costs associated therewith. 3.2 Membership fees are to be paid in the currency stated on the invoice (Pounds Sterling, US dollars or Euros). 3.3 Unless advised otherwise, membership fees are due on 1st January each year. 4 CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS 4.1 Membership may be cancelled if, in its discretion, the LCIA Court considers that a current member no longer meets the criteria for membership, for reasons that have become known to the LCIA since membership was granted. 4.2 No refunds can be issued under any circumstances. 5 DIRECTORY OF MEMBERS 5.1 The LCIA Directory of Members is a listing of members of the LCIA Users’ Councils including contact details, nationality, profession, languages spoken and areas of specialisation (as provided to the LCIA). 5.2 Members reserve the right to opt-out should he or she not wish to appear in the Directory of Members. 5.3 The Directory is not a listing of arbitrators, nor is it an endorsement of any individual or firm listed, nor of their competence as arbitrator or mediator. A listing in the Directory does not mean that the person concerned has necessarily been appointed by the LCIA. 5.4 The LCIA does not warrant the accuracy or validity of the information, and hereby disclaims any liability to any person for any loss or damage caused by errors or omissions in this directory. 5.5 The Directory shall be used for individual, personal and confidential reference purposes only and may be used only pursuant to the terms of this agreement. The Directory and its contents are proprietary products of the LCIA. The contents of the Directory may not, in whole or in part, be reproduced, copied, disseminated, entered into a computer database, used as part of or in connection with a mailing list, or otherwise utilised in any form or manner or by any means, except for the user’s individual, personal and confidential reference. 5.6 Should a member be found to be abusing the Directory of Members, the LCIA reserves the right to retract their membership without refund. 6 ARBITRATIION INTERNATIONAL 6.1 By registering as a member of the LCIA Users’ Councils, you are authorising the LCIA to share personal information with Oxford University Press to ensure you receive the quarterly copies of Arbitration International and online access to all Arbitration International content, including the full archive. 7 MEMBERSHIP EVENTS 7.1 See Events Terms and Conditions. 8 GENERAL DATA PRIVACY NOTICE 8.1 See LCIA General Data Privacy Notice.
