Changes to the LCIA Board 20 July 2023 The LCIA Board have announced the appointment of Marie Berard, Clifford Chance LLP, James Freeman, Allen & Overy LLP and Roland Ziadé, Linklaters LLP, as Directors of the LCIA, as of 13 July 2023. Chairman of the LCIA Board, Christopher Style KC comments: “It is a pleasure to welcome to the Board such distinguished practitioners. I very much look forward to working with them to promote the cause of international arbitration generally and the business of the LCIA in particular.” LCIA Director General, Professor Dr Jacomijn van Haersolte-van Hof on the appointments: "I’m very pleased that Marie, James and Roland are joining the LCIA Board with all three bringing a wealth of knowledge, coming from international firms, with wide-reaching international practices. These additions to the LCIA Board confirm the status of the LCIA as a firmly international, London based institution. Marie, James and Roland have been involved in the LCIA in numerous capacities in the past. I look forward to working with them again as we continue to boost the LCIA’s operations and support the diverse needs of the international business community." It has also been announced that Judith Gill KC, Nigel Rawding KC and Richard Hill have retired from the Board after many (in fact, between them, 49) years of distinguished service. The LCIA wishes to thank them profusely for their enormous contribution and looks forward to their ongoing support and guidance. The LCIA Board, which is made up of leading international arbitration practitioners, is principally concerned with the operation and development of the LCIA's business. The Board does not have an active role in case administration, though it does maintain a close interest in the LCIA's administrative function, particularly through the LCIA Court, whose members it appoints.
