LCIA Seminar on 'The Efficiency & Effectiveness of Arbitration' - St Petersburg, Wednesday 15 June 2016

This seminar focuses on the efficiency and effectiveness of arbitration as it relates to Russian users and disputes, in particular, the different approaches taken by institutions, legislators and other stakeholders to ensure timely and cost effective arbitration.

The panel will discuss the different approaches in relation to case administration, including arbitrator appointment and the calculation of costs, which directly affect efficiency and effectiveness.

Reference will be made to some of the recent efforts and developments in arbitration to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. The LCIA has recently undertaken an extensive analysis of actual LCIA cases to provide users with information on the average costs and duration of an LCIA arbitration. These facts seek to provide users with tools for making informed choices.

In addition, the panellists will discuss recent changes to Russian Arbitration law, in particular, affecting the arbitrability of corporate disputes.

This seminar is being held in co-operation with Egorov, Puginsky, Afanasiev & Partners and White & Case.
