He has nearly a decade experience representing corporates, multi-nationals and governments in several high profile commercial and investment disputes. He regularly acts as counsel under most of the institutional arbitration rules with a specific focus on Africa, and advises clients on arbitration related litigation, including enforcement and set aside proceedings before national courts. With a background in energy, finance and projects, Adetola's experience stems from an understanding of the transactions that underpin disputes and has practiced in the disputes practice of top tier commercial law firms in Nigeria, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. He holds a masters from the prestigious Geneva LLM in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS), a diploma in international arbitration from the Africa Arbitration Academy. Adetola is admitted to practice in Nigeria. Peace Adeleye - Nigeria Peace is a mid-level associate at Kenna Partners, a leading corporate commercial law firm in Nigeria. Naa Amorkor Amarteifio - Ghana Naa Amorkor is a Senior Associate at AB & David, a leading law firm in Ghana. She has extensive experience in commercial litigation and arbitration involving complex financial and construction issues. She has advised many companies on how to manage construction claims and disputes in Africa. Amorkor had a stint at Slaughter & May where she developed her legal skills under the Explore programme. She completed a secondment programme at the London office of Hogan Lovells International LLP. During her time at Hogan Lovells, she was involved in multiple disputes in the finance, hospitality and entertainment sectors. She is also an alumnus of the Africa Arbitration Academy. She has held leadership positions in her arbitration career and currently serves as the Secretary to the Executive Council of the Lagos Court of Arbitration Young Arbitrators Network (LCA-YAN). She is a Steering Committee member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), Ghana Chapter as well as the Secretary of the Chapter. James Kariuki - Kenya James is a Fellow (FCIArb) of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK, Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators (FMCIArb) as well as a Fellow of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand (FAMINZ). James is also a certified mediator and adjudicator as well as an Advocate of the High court of Kenya practising in the Dispute Resolution Practice Group of Iseme Kamau Maema Advocates (IKM), DLA Piper Africa, Kenya. James is the current Chairperson of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Kenya Branch, Young Members Group (YMG). James also holds a Master’s Degree (LLM) in International Investment and Trade law specialising in cross border investments and their corresponding treaty instruments. In recognition of his exemplary strides in the alternative dispute resolution practice, he was recognised as the Young Arbitration Practitioner of the Year and was part of the dispute resolution team that won the Leading Case Counsel Team both at the third African Arbitration Awards. Asia Pacific Ryan Cable - Australia Ryan Cable is a Senior Associate at Clayton Utz in Australia. Ryan specialises in commercial arbitration with a focus on contractual, financing, and joint venture disputes arising within the energy and resources sector. Ryan also has experience acting in investor-state disputes under the ICSID Rules and arbitration-related proceedings before the English and Australian courts. Prior to joining Clayton Utz in 2023, Ryan practised for 7 years in London where he was ranked in consecutive years by the Legal 500 as a recommended lawyer for International Arbitration and a recommended lawyer for Commercial Litigation. Yi Dai - China Yi Dai is a Partner in DaHui Lawyers’ litigation, arbitration, and crisis management practice groups. Over the years, by focusing on complex commercial dispute resolution, Yi has accumulated extensive experience in commercial arbitration and litigation involving foreign interests and is especially adept at cross-border disputes and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards. Bryan Fok - Hong Kong Bryan specialises in commercial dispute resolution and international arbitration. He has extensive experience of advising on investment and shareholder disputes. Bryan practised as a solicitor in leading law firms and as in-house counsel at two bulge bracket investment banks for more than a decade. He is particularly adept at handling cross-border matters and has practised in Hong Kong, China, London and Geneva. Bryan is passionate about public service. He has held numerous public appointments in Hong Kong, including as Chairman of the Buildings Appeal Tribunal, Member of the Inland Revenue Board of Review and Adjudicator of the Immigration Tribunal. At the same time, he is keen to maintain a connection with legal academia and is an Honorary Fellow of the Asian Institute of International Financial Law at the University of Hong Kong. Shreya Jain - India Shreya is a Principal Associate at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Mumbai. Her practice focuses on international commercial and investor-state arbitration, cross-border litigations, and public international law matters. Shreya is qualified to practice in India and New York. Her experience includes commercial and investor-state arbitration under all major international arbitration rules and diverse sectors such as energy, mining, commodities, construction, technology, M&A, and financial services. Jae Ha Kwon - Korea Jae Ha Kwon is an English-qualified foreign attorney in the International Arbitration & Cross-Border Litigation Practice Group at Kim & Chang and a key member of the firm’s Shipbuilding and Construction Arbitration Practice. Over the last decade, she has built an impressive list of clientele, representing both Korean and international clients across commercial arbitrations, court proceedings and other types of dispute resolutions. As the sole English-trained solicitor in Kim & Chang’s arbitration team, Ms Kwon’s experience has contributed to the growth of the firm’s arbitration practice, earning her reputation as a young, female rising star in the region not only within the firm but in the broader market. In 2022, Ms Kwon became the first lawyer in Korea to be admitted as a Solicitor Advocate and, with her enhanced advocacy skills, she has taken more active roles in representing clients at arbitration hearings, including through examinations of witnesses and presentation of oral arguments. Beyond Ms Kwon’s excellent credentials as a lawyer, she is an active member of the broader arbitration community. Arunav Guha Roy - India Arunav is a Partner Designate in the disputes practice at Saraf and Partners. He routinely acts for domestic and foreign clients in arbitrations and commercial litigations focusing on construction, insolvency, trusts, environment, joint ventures/ SHAs, product liability, data protection and trademark infringement matters. Europe Kimberley Bazelais - France Kimberley Bazelais is a dual-qualified Avocat à la Cour (Paris Bar) and Attorney-at-law (New-York Bar), in the International Arbitration practice group of Signature Litigation. Kimberley specialises in both international commercial and investment arbitration. Her work includes representing top-tier companies and state entities in arbitration and litigation proceedings relating to projects in the fields of telecommunications, construction, energy and more. Kimberley has a particular academic and professional focus on the English-speaking, French-speaking and Spanish-speaking territories of the Caribbean region. Before joining Signature Litigation, Kimberley trained at various international law firms and at the ICC International Court of Arbitration. She also regularly acts as secretary to the arbitral tribunal in institutional and ad hoc proceedings. Judy Fu - UK Judy is a barrister at 3 Verulam Buildings in London. She has broad experience in arbitration, having acted in disputes in a wide range of sectors conducted under the major sets of arbitration rules (including LCIA, ICC, SCC, ICSID, HKIAC, and SIAC Rules, and ad hoc arbitration under UNCITRAL Rules). Vanda Kopic - Italy Vanda is an associate at BonelliErede, Italy’s largest independent law firm. She has represented clients in commercial arbitrations under substantive laws across common and civil law jurisdictions in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. She has also acted in investment treaty arbitrations. Vanda’s cases typically concern the energy, construction, banking, telecommunications and intellectual property sectors under a wide array of institutional and ad hoc rules (e.g., LCIA, ICSID, ICC, UNCITRAL, SIAC, HKIAC, ICDR). Additionally, Vanda often acts as the Tribunal’s Administrative Secretary in commercial and investment treaty arbitration cases. Vanda is a Croatian national and Italian native speaker. Middle East Michael Farchakh - UAE Michael Farchakh is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution and Construction Departments of Hadef & Partners in Dubai. His legal practice focuses on providing expert advice and counsel on matters related to Omani law to a diverse range of clients, including local and international entities. Shehab specialises in civil, commercial, corporate, arbitration, and construction law. As well as representing leading construction companies in both state court and arbitral tribunal proceedings he has acted as counsel in ad-hoc and institutional arbitration such as LCIA, ICC, DIAC, SCCA, OAC, UNCITRAL, and CRCICA. Fulya Kurar - Turkey Fulya Kurar is a Senior Associate in the Disputes practice of Moroğlu Arseven based in İstanbul, Türkiye. She focuses on international commercial and investment arbitration, and transnational litigation involving energy, construction, finance, telecommunications, technology and media sectors. North America Paige Burnham - Canada Paige Burnham is an associate at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, based in Vancouver. She practises in the areas of commercial arbitration (international and domestic) and commercial litigation. Paige graduated from the combined JD/MA programme at the University of Ottawa and the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs in 2017. Prior to being called to the British Columbia Bar in 2019, Paige clerked for seven justices at the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Paige’s arbitration experience includes acting as junior counsel in significant commercial arbitration proceedings under various institutional rules, including the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, the HKIAC Administered Arbitration Rules, the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce’s Arbitration Rules and the domestic and international rules of the Vancouver International Arbitration Centre (VanIAC), among others. Tim McKenzie - USA Tim McKenzie is a senior associate in the Trial and Global Disputes Practice Group at King & Spalding LLP, specialising in international arbitration and public international law. His experience includes investment, commercial, and inter-state arbitrations under the ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC and ICDR Rules, and cross-border litigations before U.S. courts. In addition to his work at King & Spalding, Tim clerked at the International Court of Justice for the current and former Vice-Presidents of the Court – Judges Xue Hanqin and Kirill Gevorgian – as well as for Judge ad hoc Charles Brower. He is fluent in French and Spanish. Tim received his J.D. from New York University School of Law where he was the 2016 winner of the International Human Rights Award, one of five NYU Law students selected as a Lloyd N. Kluwer Arbitration Blog Representative Lucy Preston - UK Lucy is a Solicitor-Advocate qualified in England and Wales and a Senior Associate at Mantle Law in London. Her practice largely focuses on energy, construction and infrastructure disputes, often with a cross-border element. Whilst her work primarily involves commercial international arbitration and litigation in the English High Courts (in which she has her Higher Rights of Audience), increasingly her practice is evolving to include significant front-end advisory work, including settlement and dispute mechanism advice. She has a strong academic background having previously been a lecturer at Riara Law School, Riara University as well as a lecturer at Strathmore Law School, Strathmore University. Most recently, in the ADR space, Florence is the current Vice Chairperson of Women in Alternative Dispute Resolution (WADR), a professional association of women in the field of alternative dispute resolution. Florence has published book chapters and articles in journals on business and human rights, Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL) and access to justice issues related to alternative dispute resolution. She is a great believer in the power of knowledge dissemination and in research and writing both at local and international levels. Social Media Representative Alesia Tsiabus - UK Alesia Tsiabus is a senior associate in the Dispute Resolution Group at Fieldfisher, focusing on international investment and commercial arbitration and litigation. She has extensive experience in complex cross-border investment and commercial disputes across a wide range of sectors, including those related to the energy and oil and gas industries. Alesia has represented both private and corporate clients in international arbitrations under the LCIA, SCC, and UNCITRAL Rules. Having practised in civil law jurisdictions, she has a notable focus on high-value disputes connected to Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Alesia holds a first-class law degree from Belarusian State University and has practised law as a commercial lawyer in Belarus, working in leading national and regional law firms in Minsk (Belarus). She moved to England to pursue her LLM degree at the University of Cambridge, where she was an Open Society Foundation and Cambridge Overseas Trust scholar. Before joining Fieldfisher, Alesia completed internships at the LCIA Secretariat and in the international arbitration groups of major international law firms in London. Alesia is admitted as a solicitor of England and Wales. She is a member of YIAG, YICCA, and the ICC YAF. She is fluent in English and Russian and has a working knowledge of Ukrainian. Vis Moot Representative Matteo Angelini - UK Matteo Angelini is a senior associate at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP. He focuses on international arbitration and English High Court litigation, with experience of arbitrations under a variety of institutional rules (including the ICC, LCIA, SIAC and UNCITRAL rules) involving both common law and civil law disputes. Matteo has particular experience in oil and gas, technology, M&A and joint venture disputes. He also regularly advises government and private sector clients on international law issues and has experience of being led in high-value commercial litigation at all levels, including before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. Matteo is qualified as a barrister in England and Wales, and is a graduate of St Catherine’s College, Oxford University. Matteo was called to the Bar of England and Wales by Inner Temple in October 2015 and has taught International Commercial Law at Queen Mary University of London.
